Before you came to Brookes what did you study and where?

Building Studies at Oxford College of FE

What made you choose Brookes as a place to study?

It's the closest university to my home offering a Construction degree.

What do/did you think of the course while studying here?

Not enough construction emphasis in the 1st year and not enough focus reading construction drawings and taking off quantities in the 2nd

How did your scholarship or bursary enhance your experience of the course?

Gave me money to live on and pay off some of my student debt.

What advice do you have for others?

Learn to read drawings properly.

What are your plans for when you've completed your course, for work or further study?

I intend to go directly to work

What do you think of the industrial placement aspect of your course?

It is brilliant, it really gives people the chance to see the real world and make contacts whether it be consultants, main contractors or sub contracts and suppliers.

Project description

I worked in every department of the central housing department at Leadbitter. Site based at Shotover View Care Home. 55 new flats made up of 1 or 2 beds for private sale and rental.

Architect - PRP Architects; Engineers - Crady Pitchers Davidson; Client - BPHA and OSJ; Main Contractor - Leadbitter

Assist site managers with their daily tasks.
