  • What is your company's involvement with Oxford Brookes University?
  • We have attended the built environment careers fair in October for the last 3 years and have taken 2 industrial placement students in each of the last 3 years.

  • What do you think is the value, to business in general and your company in particular, of being involved with Brookes?
  • We have found Oxford Brookes to be a good source of placement students. Our preferred strategy is to recruit placement students who could potentially return as graduates once they have graduated. This enables us to have graduate pool who have already gained practical experience and can therefore fast track the graduate development programme.

  • What do you think is the value to Brookes of being involved with your company?
  • The ability to provide valuable and useful practical experience which makes the student more marketable on graduation.

  • How do you think students benefit from being involved with your company / doing work experience with your company?
  • Our placement students tell us that the their placement year offers the opportunity to understand how they will fit into one of the most demanding industries in the world. All students expand on their academic knowledge and are given real job responsibility with the help, support and experience of the Construction team.

  • What are your impressions of Brookes in terms of how the university relates to industry/business/employers?
  • Our experience is of a good support network within the university to one student who experienced great personal trauma during the placement year. We were able to work closely with the lecturer to help the student through this difficult situation.

  • How do you rate Brookes students/graduates?
  • We have been impressed by the capabilities of the industrial placement students from both the 2007 and 2008 intake. We have two students returning in 2009 as graduates and are currently reviewing the position for our current IP's who will graduate in 2010.
