Pete is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Planning and has expertise in a wide range of quantitative techniques for processing and analysing data. He has handled large datasets in projects for clients that have included the Department of the Environment (DoE), the National Audit Office (NAO) and the British Property Federation (BPF). Pete has developed teaching on applied statistics and research methods for students on undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. He has just completed (in July 2010) a half-time, five-year secondment with a Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) concerned with developing research in the undergraduate curriculum and funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

Teaching interests

Statistical surveys, statistical analysis, time series analysis and forecasting, spatial data analysis, urban models, research design and methods, qualitative comparative analysis.

Research interests and consultancy expertise

Social surveys and data analysis in housing and design projects. Methods of qualitative comparative analysis (QCA).
