Profile

In addition to my teaching and administrative commitments at the University, I am fully involved with the department's outreach activities. I regularly make keynote presentations at academic and professional conferences. I am also the principal liaison for the department's alumni society (OBREMS) and the student society (OBRESS).

I regularly present and teach at other UK Universities [including Cambridge and Oxford] and internationally including [Zurich (Switzerland) and Charleston (USA)]

I am a member of the Professional Board of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) and I sit on a number of committees of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). This work has a direct impact on the regulations and standards of valuers worldwide.

I also edit the Journal of Property Investment & Finance (JPIF) producing six issues a year of the award winning academic journal.

In 2011, I was awarded the Oxford Brookes Student Award for Most Interesting Lecturer and in 2013, I was also awarded the RICS Prize for Best Paper in Valuation.

  • Affiliated to the International Land Markets research group in the Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development.

Examples of recent projects

  • Through my involvement with the IVSC, I have been instrumental in liasing with the banking community to identify the appropriate basis of valuation for commercial bank lending.
  • Principal Author on the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Working Party writing the Valuation Information Paper (Commercial Property: Price, Value & Worth - A Commentary on the Valuation and Analysis of Real Estate Investments)
