Maria is a qualified architect and has extensive experience internationally and in the UK of urban design and architectural projects. Her architectural experience includes both high rise office towers and residential design and construction.

Her particular urban design research interests lie in human resettlement and integrated residential planning for marginalized communities. She has worked on resettlement projects in West Africa; on Canadian Reserves; and in her current PhD research with Romani groups of UK.

She will be teaching on Issues 1 and 2 in urban design and spatial planning including examination of eco-towns and their ramifications.
