Before you came to Brookes what did you study and where?

I got a bachelor in Public Affairs Management (Real Estate Development & Management Pathway) at Shanxi University of Finance and Economics in China.

What made you choose Brookes as a place to study?

Real Estate at Brookes has a great reputation and it was my dream to study in Oxford.

What do/did you think of the course while studying here?

It surpassed my expectations: practice-based teaching, abundant field trips, intensive career events, small class sizes and perfect diversity.

What are the best bits of studying at Brookes?

The best part of this programme was that it was a guide to cultivate real estate thinking in real life. Also, it made for unforgettable memories with the whole MSc (on various field trips).

What advice do you have for others?

Work hard and never stop thinking. This way, you will definitely learn more than you can imagine. It is also important to enhance your ability of working under pressure.

After graduating from Brookes what were the next steps for your career and where are you working now?

Getting a job in London as I couldn’t wait to put what I learnt at Brookes into practice and I was so curious about what it would be like to work in the UK as an international student.

Currently I am working in a property agency in London for their Chinese market. Specifically, I define customers’ needs, make bespoke property investment plans, as well as explore multiple marketing channels.

What so far have been the best moments?

I do like challenging myself. Sometimes, I may get disappointed but I mostly have got what I put in no matter what - whether it was studying at Brookes or trying to get a job in London. It is so satisfying to get good results from long-term projects or pieces of work.

What so far have been the most challenging moments?

So far I still think the most challenging time for me was studying at Brookes, especially at the beginning of the first semester. At that time, l felt it was so difficult to study all day in English. However, with the encouragement and support of my teachers and classmates, I successfully got the degree. I do appreciate the precious studying experience because it gave me unbeatable confidence.
