Before you came to Brookes what did you study and where?
HND Town Planning, Glasgow Metropolitan College
What made you choose Brookes as a place to study?
It has reputation as one of the best planning schools; great location; fantastic new campus and facilities.
What do/did you think of the course while studying here?
Both courses broad in relation to built environment subjects; taught me to be aware of my surroundings at an early stage; enjoyed international aspects.
What are the best bits of studying at Brookes?
Informative and approachable faculty staff; new campus buildings; field trip opportunities; broad optional modules.
What advice do you have for others?
Study planning at Brookes if you want your CV to have the edge over other candidates!
After graduating from Brookes what were the next steps for your career and where are you working now?
Since graduating with my BA I have been in full time employment in very fulfilling planning jobs. These have included transport planning and social infrastructure planning. My employer has even sponsored me to complete my planning master’s on a part-time basis. With this, I specialised by taking modules in developing and transitional regions and also travelled to Brazil to undertake an urban design project.
What so far have been the best moments?
Brazilian Urban Design Study (BUDS project); meeting amazing people from lots of different backgrounds; piece of mind that my course would easily lead to a good job because planners (particularly Brookes graduates) are in high demand!
What so far have been the most challenging moments?
In relation to course content, I have been challenged throughout both my planning courses at Brookes. I see this as a good thing and have always felt I could tap into the support from faculty staff at any point. This is particularly useful when balancing study with employment and in my experience faculty staff are normally willing to be flexible.
