The students benefit from a dedicated lecture theatre and computer lab. The computer room is used to teach students how to analyse and assess investment and construction projects to determine viability. Students are also taught state of the art modelling to analyse risk using the probabilistic approach, which is often used in practice. Students use Crystal Ball, a software package, to gain hands-on experience of using this approach to assess risks of financial models.
Construction students also have access to various Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools such as Revit, Synchro and Vico that provide hands-on experience of the issues of managing projects through BIM, which will become industry standard for all public construction contracts from April 2016.
In addition to the computer suites, construction students also have access to the construction technology laboratory in the John Payne building. Here students learn the engineering properties of construction materials and have the opportunity to undertake further technology based research.

We use a wide range of teaching approaches from traditional lectures, seminars and tutorials to eLearning, studio-based teaching in our own purpose built studio, workshop based practical work, demonstrations and site visits, role-play simulations, problem-solving exercises, group projects and more.
Our real estate and construction courses have strong links with all the principal real estate consultancy and construction firms, developers and investors. Visiting speakers often come to the University to present in our state of the art facilities.
